HIV/AIDS

Increased access to free HIV/AIDS treatment contributes to the increased HIV/AIDS cases in Trinidad and Tobago. What are your thoughts?

  1. Due to the exponential rate at which HIV/AIDS had occured globally, scientic work very hard to curb the rate of the disease spread

  3. I definitely agree and as a result persons should be allowed to pay for treatment quite harsh but its the reality of the situation .People often tend to value things more that they have to pay for.

  4. Altough treatment for HIV and aids is an excellent breakthrough i somewhat agree that treatment of infected persons contributes to this epidemic. i say so because these antiviral medications allows people to look healthy and live long lives. some of these HIV positive persons actually take it upon themselves to form relationships with uninfected persons which worsons the HIV problem.

  5. I definitely agree without giving value to the fact thet some of these people are actually getting a chance to live a second life they are still having unprotected sex.

  6. I don't share this view. I strongly believe people's life style has and is largely contributing to the increase in HIV/AIDS. More and More people are engaging in unsafe sexual behaviours with little or no concern about the consequences and end result of their actions.

  7. I strongly agree to this statement because person are HIV/AIDS postive looks normal and one is unable to tell and others often find themselves in ralationship thus causing a spread in the diease. I think that its all comes down to the individual choices and their lifestyle.

  8. I don't think that because people receive drugs and look healthier they are more prone to spreading HIV/AIDS. The few people i know who have HIV/AIDS and take treatment are responsible adults who were not drug users, gay, promiscuous or otherwise and are so ecstatic to be alive for another day to see their children or grandchildren they don't have time to spread the HORRID disease. It's a privilege for some and form of continuous abuse for others, a gift of life for some and a tool of death for others it all depends on the thoughts and mental attitude of the individual who has the power of HIV/AIDS drug treatment.

  9. I don’t believe that it contributes to the increase. In previous times once someone was diagnosed with the disease, it was like a death sentence, now free medication has given persons a chance to live a fairly normal life/ have a second life. Remember an individual doesn’t have to be careless or carefree or promiscuous to contract the disease. What about an innocent young lady who might have been raped and later diagnosed with the disease or someone injected with an infected needle? Aren’t they deserving of another chance or a better life with the disease?? What if they can’t afford to pay for medication? Is it fair that they now suffer for other's shortcomings? Free meds have increased the self esteem of those infected; they can live normal and healthier lives. Free meds has given hope to the hopeless.

  10. I totally agree with this statement because when infected persons take their treatment it enables them to look healthier for a longer time and they engage in unprotected sex with unsuspecting healthy persons, thus increasing the spread of HIV/AIDS cases in Trinidad and Tobago

  11. i strongly agree with this statement, due to the fact that there is an increase in medication, people are not taking the hiv/aids disease seriously. they are still going out and having unprotected sex and thinks that, if they do contract the disease all they have to do is take the medication. my best opinion to these people are to practice safe sex.

  12. IN AS MUCH AS THAT MAY BE TRUE, THERE STILL NEEDS TO BE GREATER EDUCATIONAL DRIVES, LETTING PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT THE RISKS AS WELL AS THE TREATMENT OPTIONS FOR THSI DISEASE.

  13. I do not agree completely with that statement, however what I blieve is people who hve been actively involved with multiple partners some of them were protecting themselves and have now refrain but those with their promiscuous lifestyle have continued and are HIV/AIDS positive are the ones spreading the disease, also the young and up-coming generation are carefree and careless, their view about life is that a person only have one life to live and they have to die anyway so no amount of broadcasting, lectures, brochures and awareness will change some peoples perspect on life.

  15. One of the purposes for an increase in free HIV/aids treatment was to assist those persons who were unable to afford proper HIV/aids treatment. What should also take place is that there should also be an increase in HIV education, condom distribution and HIV screening. With an increase in HIV/aids treatment, persons with the disease can now enjoy longer and healthier life's and if they decide to be promiscuous and have unprotected sex, then that can lead to an increase in HIV/aids cases.
